Child Dies Following Serious Crash In Moira

A child, aged one, has died and a woman in her 60s has been injured following a lorry collision in Moira, Co Down.

The child is believed to have died at the scene which happened on Meeting street at around 1.40pm on Wednesday, 08 March.

The woman, who is believed to have been the child’s grandmother, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

DUP MLA Paul Given said: “Absolutely devastating news regarding the tragic accident in Moira earlier. My thoughts & prayers are with the families affected by this unimaginable tragedy.”

63-Year-Old Woman Arrested Over Stabbing In Antrim
A 63-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with a stabbing incident in Antrim on Friday, 26 January. Shortly after 5.10am police received a report that a man, aged in his 40s, had been stabbed at a property in the Firmount Drive area of the town. He was subsequently taken to hospital for treatment to stab wounds to his upper body area.

Investigation Launches After Masked Men Break Into House In East Belfast
The PSNI have launched an investigation after masked men broke into a house in east Belfast while a woman was inside. The incident occurred in the Manna Grove area at around 7pm on Wednesday, 17 January. Three masked men entered the property through a smashed back door and searched the house while the woman was upstairs.

BCC Welcomes Conviction Of Belfast Man For Dog Attack
Belfast City Council (BCC) has welcomed the conviction of a man at Belfast Magistrates Court for an offence involving a dog attack on a woman. BCC brought the prosecution against 43-year-old Stuart Grace, of Forthriver Crescent, Belfast, following a report that Mr Grace’s German Shepherd dog had attacked a woman, injuring her arm and back.

SDLP Calls For New Strategy To Tackle Child Poverty
The SDLP has called on the Executive to produce a new strategy to tackle child poverty. The party's Opposition Communities Spokesperson, Daniel McCrossan, made the call after a Northern Ireland Audit Office report found one in five children are living in relative poverty.
