Man charged with murder
A 47-year-old unemployed builder has been charged with the murder of a man in Co Down early this year.
James Clarke, of Stirling Avenue in Newtownards, was remanded in custody on Friday after being charged with the murder of Andrew Cully in Newtownards in March.
The father of two was shot up to 10 times as he sat in his parked car in the loyalist West Winds estate in Newtownards on March 24.
A detective told Newtownards Magistrates Court on Friday that when the charge was put to Mr Clarke he replied "not guilty".
The detective said he believed he could connect the accused to the charge.

22-Year-Old Man Jailed For Rape At Laganside Crown Court
A 22-year-old man has been sentenced to six years for rape at Laganside Crown Court. Ahmad Alsbaihi was sentenced to six years. He will serve three years in custody and three years on licence. A 44-year-old man has been jailed for manslaughter and committing arson recklessly to endanger life having unlawfully killed Andrew James Thompson. At Newry Crown Court, Gary Anthony Magee was sentenced to serve seven years in prison, half to be served in custody and half on license, following his guilty plea last October.

A new campaign to raise awareness of the dangers for children online has been launched by the PSNI and the Safeguarding Board for Northern Ireland (SBNI), on Safer Internet Day, Tuesday 6th February 2024. According to the PSNI, online sexual offences against children are becoming an increasing crime type in Northern Ireland.
