East Belfast To Benefit From Prince Of Wales Homelessness Initiative

East Belfast has been chosen as one of six locations across the UK to be included in a new initiatives to address homelessness and support organisations working with the homeless and those at risk of homelessness.

Hosford House, a homeless services based at the Skainos centre on the Lower Newtownards Road, has been included in the Homewards initiative – a new five-year project spearheaded by the Prince of Wales.

The DUP's Gavin Robinson, MP for east Belfast, welcomed Prince William to the centre yesterday, Monday 26 June, after it was announced that it would be supported as part of the Homewards project.

Speaking afterward, Mr Robinson said: “I am absolutely delighted to welcome The Prince of Wales to East Belfast today to launch Homewards, a five-year project aimed at ending homeless. Six locations across the UK have been chosen, with Hosford House in Belfast being recognised and forming part of this exciting plan.

"Hosford house has served East Belfast for over twenty years, providing key tenancy support to those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Homelessness and housing stress is at an all-time high across our city, with waiting lists for social homes, increased rent prices and a reduction in the number of private properties available to rent.

"This long-term commitment and investment by The Prince of Wales to support Hosford House is significant, giving hope at a time when homelessness is so prevalent."
