Three Men Charged In DCI Caldwell Case

Three men have appeared before L'Derry Magistrates Court, charged in connection with the attempted murder of Detective Chief Inspector John Caldwell.

DCI Caldwell was shot a number of times at a sports centre in Omagh in February.

Today, three men - aged 23, 25 and 36 - appeared in court charged in connection with the claim of responsibility made following the attack and with possessing articles for use in terrorism.

All charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

Police have renewed their appeal for information over the murder of Constable Ronan Kerr. Constable Kerr, aged 25, was killed by a booby-trap car bomb in Omagh on 02 April 2011. The PSNI believe there are witnesses who may hold the "key to vital evidence".

Two Men Appear In Court Charged With L'Derry Murder
Two men have appeared at L'Derry Magistrates' Court charged with the murder of a 52-year-old man. Edward Meenan's body was discovered in an alleyway just off Creggan Street in the city at around 2.45am on Sunday 25 November. He had sustained significant injuries to his head and body. The investigation into his death has led to a number of arrests.

Two Men Arrested In £500,000 Drug Seiure In South Belfast
Two men have been arrested in connection with a £500,000 drug seizure following searches in South Belfast. On Friday, 01 March, detectives from the PSNI's Organised Crime Branch stopped and searched two vehicles in the Lisburn Road area. Class B controlled drugs were recovered from both vehicles which were also subsequently seized.

Seven Men Charged Over Attempted Murder Of DCI Caldwell
Seven men have been charged in connection with the attempted murder of Detective Chief Inspector John Caldwell. Detectives from the Major Investigation Team have charged all seven men – two aged 28 and five aged 33, 38, 45, 47 and 72 – with attempted murder.

Man And Woman Jailed For 'Brutal And Senseless Attack'
The PSNI have welcomed the sentencing of two people at Laganside Crown Court for a range of offences including grievous bodily harm with intent, threats to kill, common assault and possession of an offensive weapon. 26-year-old Dylan Black, from the Lisburn area, was sentenced to seven years in prison. He will serve three years on license.
