Two policemen injured in separate hit-and-run incidents
Two policemen have been injured following separate hit-and-run incidents in south Belfast early this morning.
In the first incident an officer was injured as he responded to investigate a report of a burglary at Rossmore Park off the Ormeau Road shortly before 4am. As police approached a car considered to be acting suspiciously in the area, the driver of the vehicle accelerated towards the officers.
It ran over an officer's leg and hit a police car before speeding off towards the city centre.
The vehicle was last seen driving off towards the Falls Road in west Belfast.
Elsewhere, an officer was treated for injuries to his hip and shoulder after being hit by a stolen car on the Upper Malone Road at around 7.30pm on Thursday.
The car, which had been reported stolen after an overnight burglary, was stopped at a vehicle checkpoint near the House of Sport, however it sped off hitting the officer.
Anyone with information on either incident is asked to contact police.
