Carl Frampton Announced As New Boxing Analyst

TNT Sports has announced Carl Frampton as one of its new boxing analyst for its TV coverage.

Frampton will work alongside presenter Laura Woods to provide analysis on fights for the new sports channel.

TNT Sports is a rebrand of the former BT Sports which will now be available for streaming through Discovery +. The channel goes live for viewers in the UK and the Republic of Ireland from 18 July.

Belfast-born Frampton fought as a professional boxer from 2009 to 2021. During his career, he held world championships across two weight classes. Including the WBA (Unified) and IBF super-bantamweight titles between 2014 and 2016, and the WBA (Super) featherweight title from 2016 to 2017.

Frampton joins a long list of accomplished sportspeople and presenters in TNT's lineup. Rio Ferdinand, Peter Crouch and Joe Cole have been named as three of the presenters for football coverage. Meanwhile, recently retired Stuart Hogg has been announced as one of the new rugby pundits.

Commenting on the launch of the new channel, Andrew Georgiou, board member of the Joint Venture and President and Managing Director, Warner Bros. Discovery Sports Europe, said: "We are hugely excited to launch TNT Sports across the UK and Republic of Ireland. TNT Sports goes live with a new and contemporary brand, a fabulous new and exciting line-up of talent, great value for viewers as well as flexible ways to buy and watch."

Shankill Receives New Sports Complexes
The Shankill area of Belfast has benefited from the allocation of two new sports complexes in the Hammer and Springmartin areas, following £770,000 in investments. A new full-size 3G pitch and floodlit facility at the Hammer Complex is now open, following a £509,000 revamp.

Hanson announces work on a new Sports Strategy
Sports Minister David Hanson has announced the establishment of a steering group to draw up a new Sports Strategy for Northern Ireland. The current Strategy for Development of Sport in Northern Ireland, which was originally facilitated by the Sports Council in the mid-90s, expires this year.

Vandals destroy new sports facility before opening
A series of sustained attacks on a new sports facility, before it has even opened its doors, have left it completely unusable Belfast City Council confirmed today.
