New GP Contractor Appointed For Two Surgeries In Co Down

A new GP contractor has been appointed for two surgeries in Holyrood and Bangor, Co Down.

The Federation Support Unit GP Management Community Interest Company will take over the Priory/Springhill GP practice from 01 August.

The South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust had temporarily been the contractor for the practice since February this year.

A statement from the Department of Health, said: "Patients will receive letters informing them of their new contractor over the coming days. Patients do not need to take any action and should continue to contact the practice as normal."

Alliance Urges Action To Secure ADHD Medication Supply
Alliance Health spokesperson, Danny Donnelly MLA, has urged the Minister of Health to take action to ensure the continued supply of medication such as methylphenidate for people with ADHD. Mr Donnelly said that there are "number of issues" which have caused a shortage of ADHD medicine such as "manufacturing issues and an increase in global demand".

New GP Contractor Agrees To Take Over Kells And Connor Medical Practice
The Department of Health (DoH) has announced that a new GP contractor has agreed to take over Kells and Connor Medical Practice, Ballymena, which had been set to close. The new contractor is Dalriada Urgent Care which also provides GP Out of Hours services for the Northern Trust area.

NI Fastest Growing UK Region For New Companies
Northern Ireland was the fastest-growing region of the UK for newly registered companies in 2023, according to a new index from Ulster Bank and Beauhurst. The New Startup Index highlights how in 2023 Northern Ireland gained 14,000 new companies, a 59% increase on 2022.

GP Contractor Withdraws Offer To Take Over Medical Practice
A GP contractor has withdrawn its offer to take over Bannview Medical Practice in Portadown, Co Armagh, the Department of Health has confirmed. Health Minister Michelle O'Neill expressed her disappointment and said no decision has been made to close the practice. She has asked for an urgent meeting with the Health and Social Care Board (HSCB).
