Fly Belfast to Paris the easy way

The first direct flight between Belfast and Paris in over ten years has arrived in the French capital today.

The new Paris route, which fly's from Belfast International Airport to Charles de Gaulle, will operate on a daily basis, but with a view to two flights a day.

The route is a direct result of a joint investment by Air Route Development (NI) Ltd (a subsidiary of Invest NI) and Belfast International Airport Ltd.

Commenting on today's flight, Enterprise Minister, Barry Gardiner said: “This is very good news for local tourism and local industry. It is the first time in over a decade that our French visitors have had direct access to Northern Ireland. It means that Northern Ireland is now only two hours away from France.

“Securing an air service to Charles de Gaulle has been one of our top priorities, as it is a major European hub. This will make it easier for Northern Ireland businesses to connect to long haul destinations around the world and likewise for long-haul visitors travelling to Northern Ireland."

Today's flight will be followed by new flights from Belfast to Nice and Malaga.

Flights to Nice will operate five times a week during the summer and four times a week in winter.

The services to Malaga in Spain will be mainly concerned with outbound tourism.
