Man Seriously Injured In Collision With Police Car

A man, aged in his 50s, has suffered serious leg injuries following a collision with a police car in east Belfast in the early hours of this morning, Friday 26 January.

Shortly after 5.30am, a police patrol vehicle was responding to an emergency report towards Belfast City Centre when a collision occurred with another vehicle in the Templemore Street area.

The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service and Northern Ireland Ambulance Service attended and initial first aid was provided at the scene.

Inspector Hakin said: "I wish both our police officers and member of the public a speedy and full recovery from their injuries.

"Extensive damage has been caused to both vehicles. Cordons remain in place on the Albertbridge Road at it junctions with Vicarage Street and Templemore Street. Please avoid the area and seek an alternative route.

"Our investigation is now underway to establish exactly what happened. We would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dash-cam footage to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 192 26/01/24."

Police Officers Disciplined For Failing To Tell Doctor About Woman's Head Injuries
Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Three People Charged Over Six-Car Collision In North Belfast
Three people have been charged in connection with a six-car collision in north Belfast. The crash happened on the Crumlin Road on Tuesday, 03 July. Police had been pursuing a stolen car after it failed to stop and caused a six-car pile up. Five people and a child had to receive hospital treatment.

Three Police Officers Injured In Collision
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information after three police officers were injured in a road traffic collision shortly before 12.55am on Sunday, 15th May in the Armagh area. Making the appeal, Sergeant Green said: "The collision occurred in the Culdee Street area of Armagh and involved a police vehicle and a red Ford Transit van.
