Police Investigate Newry Robbery

The PSNI have issued an appeal for information following the report of a robbery in the Dominic Street area in Newry yesterday, 1 February.

Police received reports that before 10.30 am on Thursday morning, a woman aged in her 80's was approached by a man as she walked in the area and had a handbag she was carrying snatched from her, causing her to fall to the ground.

The suspect was described as being aged in his 50's or 60's and wearing a dark coloured peaked cap and a dark coat, then made off from the area on foot.

Police arrested a 62 year old man a short time later on suspicion of robbery but the man has since been released on bail to allow for further police enquiries to be conducted.

The handbag was recovered by security staff from a public toilet at a nearby shopping centre and later returned to the woman, who was left badly shaken by her ordeal.

Man Arrested Over Armed Robbery In West Belfast
A man has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery in west Belfast. The robbery happened at a shop on Caffrey Avenue at around 9.30pm on Tuesday, 27 February. The suspect threatened a member of staff and made off with a sum of cash and cigarettes. He was arrested on Wednesday, 28 February, and has been detained in police custody.

Appeal After Masked Men Force Entry Into Home Of Elderly Man
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information after five masked me forced entry into the home of an man aged in his 70s, on the Saintfield Road. Police received a report shortly before 11.30pm on Saturday, 17th February that between 10pm and 10.30pm on the same evening, five masked men entered a house in the Saintfield Road area.

Carrickfergus pensioner robbed by bogus callers
Police have appealed for information following the robbery of a pensioner in County Antrim yesterday afternoon. A man posing as a Housing Executive worker talked his way into the 82-year-old woman's home in Rosebrook Grove area of Carrickfergus at around 3.30pm yesterday.

Two arrested during police searches
Police investigating a robbery at a sub-post office in Melmount Road area of County Tyrone on Monday October 9, have carried out a number of searches in west Belfast. One man was arrested and a vehicle and a quantity of ammunition were seized. Detectives also carried out a number of searches in the Strabane area.
