Appeal Following Stabbing Incident In Downpatrick

PSNI detectives have issued an appeal for information and witnesses following a stabbing incident in Downpatrick.

Police received a report shortly after 6pm on Saturday, 17th February that a man had been stabbed on a pathway in the St Dympnas Avenue area of the town.

The suspect, a man believed to be aged in his 30s, fled the scene on foot in the direction of Oriel Drive. He was wearing an all grey tracksuit and carrying a white plastic bag.

Officers attended, alongside colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service. The victim, aged in his 20s, sustained stab wounds to his stomach area. He was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries. His condition is believed to be serious but stable at this time.

The PSNI said: "Our investigation is underway and anyone who thinks they could help with our ongoing enquiries, or who saw the suspect flee the scene, can contact police on 101, quoting reference number 1299 17/02/24.

BCC Welcomes Conviction Of Belfast Man For Dog Attack
Belfast City Council (BCC) has welcomed the conviction of a man at Belfast Magistrates Court for an offence involving a dog attack on a woman. BCC brought the prosecution against 43-year-old Stuart Grace, of Forthriver Crescent, Belfast, following a report that Mr Grace’s German Shepherd dog had attacked a woman, injuring her arm and back.

Two men die in separate stabbing incidents
Two people have been killed in separate stabbing incidents in Northern Ireland over the weekend. Hugh McKibben, 51, of Main Street in Carrowdore died in a stabbing incident at a house on Inisharoan Court about midnight on Sunday May 5. Four people were arrested following his murder but three have since been released on police bail.

Appeal For Information On Dervock Stabbing Incident
PSNI detectives have issued an appeal for information on a stabbing incident in Dervock in Ballymoney on the evening of Sunday 30 July. At approximately 9.50pm, police received a report that two men had been stabbed during an altercation outside a bar in the Carncullagh Road area of the town.
