Green Party 'Raises Concerns' Over Lough Neagh Recovery Plan

Green Party Councillor for Lisnasharragh, Brian Smyth, has raised concerns over the language used by DAREA Minister, Andrew Muir in regards to delivering a comprehensive recovery plan for Lough Neagh.

Cllr Smyth said "I am worried that the minister is shifting any responsibility away from him and his department at this early stage, by citing a potential lack of funds."

"Whilst the public understand how budgets are squeezed, they will be concerned that the Minister will serve up a weak recovery plan for our most critical public asset, Lough Neagh."

"The minister needs to take much stronger action on the polluters who are killing our waterways and the Stormont Executive needs to create an independent environmental protection agency to oversee the upholding of environmental laws."
