Pensioner treated for shock following break-in

A pensioner has been treated for shock after a number of men broke into her south Belfast home early this morning.

The 78-year-old woman awoke to find three intruders standing in her bedroom shortly after midnight.

One of the men held the elderly woman down while the other ransacked the room and demanded money, however they eventually fled the Baroda Street home, in the Annadale area, empty handed.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.

Appeal For Information On Aggravated Burglary In Cookstown
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information following a report of an aggravated burglary at the Queens Avenue area of Cookstown on Friday 3rd February. Shortly after 10pm, it was reported that four masked men entered a property in the area with one of the men armed with an iron bar and another man armed with a suspected firearm.

Two Men Attacked With Baseball Bats In Co Antrim
Two 18-year-old men have been attacked with baseball bats in Whitehead, Co Antrim. The victims were closing premises in the Balmoral Avenue area at around 8.30pm on Tuesday, 04 October when three men assaulted them. Both men were treated in hospital for their injuries. One has been discharged, and the other remains in hospital.

Woman Assaulted During Aggravated Burglary In Newtownabbey
A woman has been assaulted during an aggravated burglary in Newtownabbey. A number of masked and armed men forced entry to a property in the Forthill Drive area at around 10.15pm on Wednesday, 19 September. A woman who was in the house at the time was attacked and sustained an injury to her lip. Three other people in the property were not injured.

Three Arrested After Man's Body Discovered In Co Antrim
Three people have been arrested in connection with a man's death in Co Antrim. The body of an elderly man was discovered at a house in the Station Road area in Greenisland at around 9.30pm on Monday. A post-mortem is to be carried out and the police have launched an investigation.
