Man Arrested In Connection Overnight Incidents In L'Derry
A 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection with reports that a number of vehicles were damaged in the L'Derry overnight.
Police received a report just after 11pm last night, Thursday 4th July, that a male was kicking wing mirrors of vehicles on Magazine Street.
Police attended the area and arrested a man on suspicion of criminal damage, and he remains in custody at this time.
A further report was made this morning, Friday 5th July, of damage caused to a vehicle.
At this time, it's believed at least five vehicles have sustained some type of damage.
Police encourage anyone who believes their vehicle was damaged, but has not reported it, to do so by calling 101, quoting reference number 1724 of 04/07/24. Police are also keen to hear from anyone who witnessed these incidents to get in touch via 101, or submit a report online using the non-emergency reporting form via www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/ or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org
New Board Members Sought For Northern Ireland Transport Holding Company
A new recruitment campaign to appoint three Non-Executive Members to the Board of Northern Ireland Transport Holding Company (NITHC), has been announced by Infrastructure Minister John O'Dowd.
NITHC operates under the Translink Group and is the north's main public transport provider.
The time commitment for the post will be approximately 2 business days per month. Non-Executive Members will be expected to attend all Board meetings, subcommittee meetings, and other ad hoc meetings as required. The Non-Executive Members will receive remuneration of £12,858 and reasonable travel and subsistence costs.
The appointments will be effective from 1 October 2024 for a 4-year term.
Applications will be welcomed from all sections of the community.
Women, younger people, people with disabilities and people from ethnic minority communities are currently under-represented on DfI Boards. Applications from members of these groups would be particularly welcome.

Appeal For Information On Arson Incident In Antrim
PSNI detectives have issued an appeal for information following a report of arson at a business premises in the Ballyutoag Road area of Antrim today, Friday 5th July.
It was reported around 6.30am that a small fire had been discovered and extinguished near a portacabin. It is thought the fire was started sometime between 1am and 1.20am.
Police attended and discovered damage to some wooden decking. It is being treated as arson and a link is being investigated with a report made on 12th June of two suspicious objects found in the same area, prompting a security alert. These items were later declared as elaborate hoaxes.
An investigation is underway and officers would appeal to anyone with any information in relation to this incident or June’s security alert to contact police at Antrim on 101, quoting reference number 205 05/07/24. Officers are also keen to hear from anyone who would have any dash-cam footage of the Ballyutoag Road area around this time to get in contact.

Murder inquiry launched after Markets body find
A murder inquiry has been launched after the body of a man was discovered in a flat in the Markets area of Belfast. Neighbours found the body in an upstairs flat in Friendly Place at 7.45am on Monday. Police believe the 38-year-old man had been beaten. Two men have been arrested by detectives and are helping them with their inquiries.

Police Officers Disciplined For Failing To Tell Doctor About Woman's Head Injuries
Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Appeal Following Arson Attack In Ballymena
Police are investigating an arson attack in Ballymena in the early hours of Friday morning. Officers were called to reports of a fire in the Dunclug Park area at around 2.45am. Firefighters extinguished the blaze, but a carport, two cars, and several tools were extensively damaged. A third car was also damaged.

Two Arrested After 'Suspicious Activity'
Two men have been arrested by police following reports of suspicious activity in the North Circular Road area of Belfast. Police attended the scene and arrested two males on suspicion of burglary and possession of class A and B drugs. No further information is available.
