Economy Minister Seeks Clarity On Go Succeed Initiative
Economy Minister, Conor Murphy, has said that he is seeking clarity on the continued support of the Go Succeed service.
Go Succeed is the council led business start-up service for the north of Ireland and is majority funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF). Working with Local Enterprise Agencies and other industry experts, Go Succeed provides tailored support and guidance to help businesses achieve their goals.
During last weeks Budget announcement, it was confirmed that UKSPF funding would continued as a "transition year", avoiding a potential cliff edge in March 2025. However, Minister Murphy said that the immediate reduced level is "a concern for the effective delivery of the Go Succeed service". Minister Murphy continued: "The service is an essential lever in delivering my economic plan. It provides much needed support to business start-ups; those looking to grow their business; or those planning to scale up. At a time when collectively we are working to grow our economy, it is crucial that the level of funding provided currently is at least maintained and that there is long-term certainty."
Last week's budget announcement also confirmed the continuation of the Investment Zone programme UK wide, including funding for Northern Ireland's Enhanced Investment Zone.
Minister Murphy said: "Confirmation of Enhanced Investment Zone funding is welcome. It will provide increased opportunities for the north to invest in new technologies that will enhance its cost competitiveness and first-class reputation for innovation. I will be meeting with Minister Norris in the coming weeks to discuss how this funding can be effectively delivered."
