Police Seize Drugs And Make Arrest In L'Derry
Suspected Class C drugs have been seized and a man arrested during a vehicle stop in L'Derry on Wednesday, 04 December.
Officers on patrol on Limavady Road stopped a vehicle being driven erratically. The 31-year-old male driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs, driving while disqualified, and driving without insurance.
A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered a quantity of suspected Class C drugs. The man was further arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class C controlled drug, being concerned in the supply of a Class C controlled drug, and possession of a Class C controlled drug with intent to supply.
The man remains in police custody. Following the recent of launch of the PSNI's Anti-Drink and Drug Driving Campaign, Inspector Craig said: "We're urging everyone to play their part in making our roads safer for everyone and will be focusing on the 'Fatal Five' and the devastating consequences failing to follow these rules can have - don't drink or take drugs and drive; slow down; don't be careless; always wear your seat belt and never use your mobile phone while driving. To that end, the public will see our officers conducting road safety operations, which will involve random roadside tests to detect drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs. We are committed to keeping our roads safe and that includes ensuring vehicles on the road are roadworthy.
"If you suspect someone is driving under the influence of drink or drugs, call 101 or 999. We are also reminding people that we work with the charity Crimestoppers. if you prefer to stay completely anonymous, but know someone who is drinking or taking drugs and driving, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."

A 38-year-old man was arrested following the discovery of drugs, worth an estimated £50,000, in east Belfast. He was subsequently charged with being in possession cannabis with intent to supply following the drugs seizure at Garnerville.

The average price of a room in the city is £78, that's an 18% increase in 2012 compared to 2011, according to the latest Hotels.com Hotel Price Index.
