Customs shut down Coalisland fuel laundering operation
Customs officers last night dismantled a fuel laundering plant at an industrial site in Co Tyrone.
The plant, which was discovered in Coalisland, was capable of processing 25,000 litres of fuel per week.
Around 6,700 litres of contaminated diesel, along with a van, tanks, pumps and filtration and storage equipment were removed during the operation.
Customs Head of Detection Northern Ireland Colin McAllister said: "Customs have stopped a substantial amount of harmful diesel from damaging engines and affecting honest businesses.
"If this sophisticated operation to illegally remove the chemical markers in duty-rebated fuel had not been shut down, it would have meant an annual revenue loss of around £650,000."
Mr McAllister called for anyone who new of any fuel misuse or suspicious activities in their area to contact the 24-hour confidential freephone on 0800 59 5000.

People Urged To 'Celebrate Their Toilets'
People across Northern Ireland have been urged to "celebrate their toilets" on 'Thomas Crapper Day'(TCD), Saturday, 27 January. TCD is a celebration of the man who helped make the humble toilet a feature in every household and pioneered the ballcock within the toilet cistern that is still a feature today.

Fuel laundering plant uncovered in Co Tyrone
An illegal fuel laundering operation has been uncovered by police and Customs officers in Co Tyrone today. The plant, concealed in farm buildings at a rural location in the Castlecaulfield area, had the capacity to process around 14,000 litres of fuel per week.

Customs team uncovers fuel laundering plant
Customs officers have uncovered an illegal fuel laundering operation in Co Armagh. The plant, which was found in a joint operation with police officers, was capable of processing about 70,000 litres of diesel a week. The team also seized two vehicles and 9,000 litres of illegal fuel.
