Asda Downpatrick Donates Thousands To Local Foodbanks
Asda Downpatrick has donated thousands of pounds worth of food and essential items to three local foodbanks.
The donation, organised by Community Champion Linda, includes ten pallets of groceries. The items will be distributed to Fountain Foodbank, Ballynahinch Foodbank, and The Pantry Foodbank to help support families in need this Christmas. Linda, Community Champion, Asda Downpatrick said: "Everyone was over the moon - they are now fully stocked, so this should keep them going for a few months. There was a lot of tinned goods such as soup as well as tea, coffee and cooking oils."
Fountain Foodbank expressed their gratitude in a Facebook post and said: "Thank you to the Asda employees and new store manager, Simon, who took time to help with the unloading. Thanks also to all our wonderful volunteers who helped on a very cold day. It was great to have the other food banks come along to share the donation across the district. These donations should make a significant impact on the local community."
The Pantry Foodbank said: "Our thanks to Asda for this welcome donation which will help local families within the County Down area during the winter months."
