Binmen rescue toddler from burning house
Binmen have rescued a two-year-old boy from a housefire in Belfast this morning.
The council workers spotted the blaze in an upstairs bedroom of a house in the Fort Street area of the Springfield Road at around 8.30am.
It took the men several attempts before they were able to rescue the child from the bedroom. The child has been taken to hospital where he is said to be in a criticial condition.
His brother, thought to be of similar age, was standing behind the front door when the binmen managed to enter the house. He along with his mother were immediately brought to safety and have been treated for smoke inhalation.
The actions of the council workers have been praised by the Fire Service.
