Bogus nurses target Coleraine bars
Police in the north west have urged the public to be on their guard following reports that two bogus nurses have been dishonestly collecting money in pubs.
It has been reported that two women dressed as nurses visited licensed premises in the Coleraine area on the pretext of collecting money on behalf of the local hospital.
Police say that the public should always satisfy themselves that a collection is bona fide before making a contribution.
Anyone who can help to identify the two women is asked to contact the police on Coleraine 028 7034 4122 or Crimestoppers on freephone 0800 555111.

Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Funding of £2.1 million is to be invested in education and training to boost the health service workforce, Health Minister Robin Swann has announced. The package includes 1,335 nursing and midwifery university places for 2022/23, as well as additional medical specialty and Allied Health Profession (AHP) training posts.

The Royal College of Nursing has said that the shortage of nurses in Northern Ireland hospitals has forced health officials to try to recruit staff from abroad. Latest figures from the College revealed that one in every 16 nurses in the province is from outside the British Isles.

A 54-year-old member of police staff who was arrested in County Antrim as part of ongoing investigations into the awarding of vehicle contracts has been released. The man was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office and has been taken to a police station in Belfast for questioning.
