Milk tanker overturns in Belfast

Police are appealing for witnesses after an articulated milk tanker overturned in Belfast on Wednesday.

Motorway police from the Roads Policing Unit are appealing for witnesses to the collision which occurred close to the Saintfield Road interchange near Belfast and resulted in the M1 motorway being closed for over five hours.

No one was injured in the incident which occurred at around 11.50am, however police particularly want to hear from the occupants of two cars that were parked on the hard shoulder at the time. One car had a trailer attached and a woman was seen standing beside it.

Anyone with information that could identify either car or could assist the investigation in anyway is asked to contact Roads Policing officers at Castlereagh on 028 9065 0222.

Icy conditions result in several road accidents
Several people were treated in hospital today after icy road conditions resulted in a number of road accidents. In one incident four cars collided on the M5 while a second accident saw two vehicles crash on the same stretch of road. The M2 in Belfast also saw two collisions this morning due to the icy conditions.
