Bangor Firearms Incident: Cordons Reduced As Investigations Continue
A man in his 40s has been arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence following a firearms incident in Bangor town centre on Sunday evening.
Police said they received reports of a man with a gun in commercial premises just before 9:30pm. Videos circulating on social media captured armed police confronting an individual, along with the sound of gunshots.
The PSNI confirmed that specialist police teams discharged their weapons during a public safety operation. As per standard procedure, the Office of the Police Ombudsman has been informed. Following the incident, cordons in the High Street area were reduced as police carried out investigative enquiries. The city's High Street was fully reopened by Monday evening. Police are continuing to appeal for information and have asked anyone who can help with enquiries to contact them, quoting reference 1763 of 18/5/25.

Two Arrested After 'Suspicious Activity'

Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Investigation Launched After Lit Fireworks Thrown From Car In Newry
Four people have been cautioned following reports that passengers in a car were throwing lit fireworks out of the vehicle in Newry, Co Down. The incident happened in the Monaghan Street area on Tuesday, 18 October. Police believe a male and female who were walking a dog on Monaghan Street may have been targeted and are keen to speak to them.
