Deloitte Announces Major Expansion In Belfast With 500 New Jobs
Deloitte has today announced a significant expansion of its operations in Northern Ireland, committing to create an additional 500 new jobs in Belfast over the next three years.
The city's new technology solutions centre is set to become the largest of the firm's four new UK delivery centres, reinforcing Belfast's growing prominence in the technology sector.
The announcement was made in Belfast by Richard Houston, Senior Partner and CEO of Deloitte UK, alongside Northern Ireland's First Minister Michelle O'Neill and deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengelly, as they officially opened Deloitte's new Belfast office. Deloitte currently employs over 1,000 people in Belfast, with this new centre marking a substantial growth in its local workforce.
The new technology centres, part of Deloitte's Technology & Transformation business, will become operational from June 1st, 2025. They will focus on providing leading-edge technology-enabled business solutions to clients across the UK, including designing apps, cloud engineering, and embedding Artificial Intelligence into software and systems like SAP, to help businesses transform. Rob Cullen, managing partner for Technology & Transformation at Deloitte UK, emphasised the firm's commitment: "This new venture reinforces our focus on being the undisputed leader in business transformation and technology, our commitment to digital skills and regional growth, as well as our support to the UK's wider ambition to be a global technology leader."
He added: "Our centres will be a magnet for the best technology talent, offering rewarding careers at the forefront of innovation."
While the Belfast centre will be the largest, Deloitte's new network of four technology delivery centres across the UK (also including Cardiff, Manchester, and Newcastle) initially brings together 750 existing technologists, with an ambition to double the total headcount to 1,500 over the next three years. Multi-year technical training programmes will be a core part of developing new joiners into world-class technology delivery experts.
Richard Bray, managing partner for regions at Deloitte, highlighted the focus on new careers: "Investing across the UK is a priority for Deloitte, and our technology centres are key to this ongoing commitment. I'm particularly excited about the opportunities these centres create for people wanting to start a new career in technology."
