Arrests And Seizures Made In Dissident Republican Probe

Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland's Serious Crime Branch, investigating dissident republican activity, arrested two men yesterday, Tuesday, 27 May.

Detective Chief Inspector McCallum reported that a vehicle was stopped by police on Lake Road in Craigavon shortly before 10:30 PM. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of "a number of suspected imitation firearms," which have been taken for forensic examination. Two men, both in their 30s, were arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. They have since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

As part of the ongoing investigation, officers carried out searches at two properties in the Portadown area today, Wednesday, May 28th. A number of items were seized during these searches and have also been taken for forensic examination. Enquiries are continuing, and police are appealing to anyone with information to contact them on 101, quoting reference number 1873 of 27/05/25.

Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. Arrests Reported By Police
Police have made arrests in two separate cases, one involving drugs and the other alleged dissident republican activities. The PSNI uncovered a cannabis factory in south Belfast, which followed a search of premises at Finaghy Road South last night. Cannabis plants with an estimated street value of £100,000 were seized.

Four-Day Search In Newry Leads To Four Arrests
Four men have been arrested in connection with handling stolen property, following a four-day search by police in Newry. The search began in the Mayobridge area on Friday night and ended on Monday, resulting in a significant amount of suspected stole property being recovered.

Number Of Arrests Made In Newry Search Operations
Detectives from the Organised Crime Branch have made a number of arrests following searches at three properties in the Newry area. The searches were carried out as part of a pro-active policing operation and led to the seizure of suspected Class A and Class B controlled drugs, a quantity of cash, mobile phones and a number of other related items.

Arrests Made Over Cannabis Find
A man and woman have been arrested after police seized cannabis plants and resin in a house in Rostrevor, Co Down. Seventy cannabis plants and 35kgs of cannabis resin were found during the police search on Monday. Four dogs, believed to have been used for badger baiting, were also taken at from the property. The pair are currently being questioned.
