L'Derry Security Alert Ends As Hoax Device Found

A security alert on Limavady Road in the Waterside area of L'Derry has concluded after a suspicious package, discovered yesterday morning, May 28th, was examined and confirmed to be a hoax device.

Chief Inspector Cherith Craig stated that Ammunition Technical Officers (ATO) examined the package, which was reported around 10:15am. She extended thanks to the public and the local school community for their understanding and cooperation during the incident, acknowledging the disruption it caused, particularly for Ebrington Primary School and Nursery, which closed as a precaution. Chief Inspector Craig reassured the public that thorough investigations are paramount for public safety when such incidents are reported.

No homes were evacuated and no roads were closed during the operation, and a cordon in the area of Heron Way with Nelson Drive has now been lifted. Police are appealing for anyone with information about this incident to contact them on 101, quoting reference 414 of 28/05/25, or to submit a report online via www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/. Major Incident Public Portal Open In John George Disappearance
The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) is assisting Spanish authorities in their search for a 37-year-old Belfast man who went missing while on holiday. John George, also known as John Hardy, was reported missing on 18th December. It is understood that he was last in contact with his family in Belfast on 14 December.

PSNI Appeal For Information - Images And Videos Of Violent Disorder
Anyone with any information, including images and videos, relating to violent disorder in Belfast is being urged to submit it to the PSNI's Major Incident Public Portal.
