43% Of NI's Electricity From Renewable Sources In the Year To March 2025

A new report, 'Electricity Consumption and Renewable Generation in Northern Ireland: Year ending March 2025', reveals that 43.0% of Northern Ireland's total metered electricity consumption was generated from metered renewable sources located within the region.

This figure represents a decrease of 2.4 percentage points compared to the previous 12-month period ending March 2024.

The report provides crucial data for tracking progress against the commitments outlined in the Energy Strategy 'Path to Net Zero Energy' and the Climate Change Act target, which mandates that "at least 80% of electricity consumption is from renewable sources by 2030."
