Security Alert Ongoing In Strabane
Police are currently managing a security alert in the Evish Square area of Strabane following the discovery of a suspicious device shortly after 9:00am this morning, Tuesday, 10 June.
Inspector Robb acknowledged the impact on residents, stating: "We understand the disruption and inconvenience this is causing, and we are working our way through this situation as quickly as possible. However, public safety is of paramount importance and we appreciate the co-operation and patience from the public as we deal with this incident."
The PSNI has confirmed they will provide further updates as the situation develops. Residents and motorists are advised to avoid the affected area until further notice.
A public safety operation has been initiated, and the primary area affected is the junction of Mount Carmel Heights with Newtownkennedy Street, which is currently inaccessible. As a precautionary measure, a number of homes in the vicinity are being evacuated.
