Belfast's Waterfront Set For Summer Of Music And Entertainment
Belfast's iconic waterfront is set to come alive this summer with the return of 'Sundays on the Maritime Mile', offering a vibrant programme of free music, animation, and entertainment every Sunday from 15 June to 31 August 2025. This family-friendly initiative, developed and funded by Maritime Belfast Trust, aims to draw locals and visitors to explore the city's historic maritime quarter.
Delivered in collaboration with key destination partners including Titanic Belfast, W5, Titanic Distillers, Sailortown Regeneration, and Native Coffee, the programme promises a diverse range of weekly pop-up performances and interactive events stretching from Sailortown to the Thompson Dock.
Highlights of the summer programme include:
• Titanic Tee Time: A playful 9-hole mini-golf course on Hamilton Dock, inspired by Northern Ireland's attractions and celebrating local sights and stories.
• Family Sound Science Days: Engaging experiments, interactive demonstrations, and 'make your own noise' stations at SoundYard, inviting exploration of vibrations, echoes, and musical mystery.
• Titanic Distillers X Maritime Mile: Relaxed Sunday afternoons featuring music from various local DJs.
• Native Coffee: A diverse line-up on Queens Quay, including traditional music, DJ sets, indie music, yoga sessions, and coffee.
• Sailortown Regeneration: Celebrations for Bastille Day, traditional and jazz music performances, and exhibitions in the historic Sailortown area. Maeve Moreland, Destination Experience Manager at Maritime Belfast Trust, expressed her delight at the programme's return. "We are pleased to bring back Sundays on the Maritime Mile for a fourth summer, in collaboration with a number of our destination partners," she said. "Over the past few years, we've worked hard to animate the waterfront with inclusive, high-quality experiences that celebrate our heritage and connect people to the destination. This year's programme builds on that success, offering something for everyone – from science and storytelling to music and mindful moments all designed to showcase what's on offer across the Maritime Mile."
Áine McBeth, owner of Native Coffee, added: "We're thrilled and thankful to be part of Sundays on the Maritime Mile. This summer, we're hosting nine unique music events – including silent discos, trad sessions, sound baths and jazz. With such an eclectic lineup, we aim to bring something special for everyone to enjoy each Sunday!"
Judith Harvey, Group Head of Learning and Engagement at The Odyssey Trust, also commented: "W5 is delighted to support Sundays on the Maritime Mile across the summer and help bring some of the exciting science and engineering behind our rich maritime history and innovative maritime present to life with some 'Sound Science'. We want to help create a real buzz and atmosphere along the waterfront area with hands-on science for everyone to get involved with."
Beyond the Sunday events, the Maritime Mile has a packed calendar for the summer, including the Sailortown Festival from 20th-22nd June, Titanic Céilí on 27th July, and the much-anticipated Belfast Maritime Festival on 6th and 7th September. The Maritime Festival will feature a headline performance by Hothouse Flowers with special guests Ríoghnach Connolly and Honeyfeet, with tickets available now at visitbelfast.com.
