Investigation Continues Into Downpatrick Sexual Assault

Detectives from the Police Service Rape Crime Unit (RCU) are continuing their investigation into the sexual assault of a teenage girl in the Samson's Lane area, off the Ardglass Road in Downpatrick. The incident occurred shortly after 08:30 on Tuesday, 24 June 2025.

Detective Superintendent Lindsay Fisher addressed public concern, stating: "I understand that people are concerned however our specialist trained RCU detectives continue to work at pace to support the victim and progress the investigation."

Superintendent Fisher issued an appeal for public assistance: "I would appeal to anyone who may have been in the area at this time, or who has any information that could help our investigation, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to please bring it to us by calling 101, quoting reference 353 24/06/25 or online at www.psni.police.uk/report."

Police are particularly keen to gather information regarding a specific individual. "We are particularly keen to speak with anyone who observed a white male in the area, around 15 to 16 years of age with dirty blond hair and wearing black clothing," Superintendent Fisher added. Information can also be provided anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity by calling 0800 555 111 or via crimestoppers-uk.org.

High-visibility reassurance patrols will continue in the local area, with officers available to receive any information from the public.

Investigation Launched After Reports Of Shots Fired In L'Derry
Police have launched an investigation following reports a number of shots were fired in L'Derry. The incident is believed to have happened in the Old School Lane area on Wednesday, 31 May. Police were contacted by members of the public, however there were no reports of any injuries or damage to properties.

Officers from the PSNI's Collision Investigation Unit will be returning to the scene of a fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the Doagh Road in Newtownabbey on Monday, 13th January. Further testing is scheduled to be carried out by investigators on Wednesday, 23rd April.
