Man Who Died In Newry Named As Igors Gavrilovs
Detectives from the PSNI have named the man at the centre of a murder investigation in Newry as 40-year-old Igors Gavrilovs.
A 50-year-old woman has been charged with his murder and appeared before Newry Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 1 July 2025. As is standard procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service. Detective Inspector Sean Armstrong stated: "A murder investigation was launched, after a report was received that a man had sustained a serious injury in the Fisher Park area of the city. Before being taken to hospital, Igors received medical treatment at the scene by emergency services, but sadly, he later died from his injuries."
Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward. Detective Inspector Armstrong added: "I would ask anyone with any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to contact detectives on 101. Please quote reference 721 28/06/25."

Two Charged With Murdering Owen Creaney
Two people have been charged with the murder of Owen Creaney. Mr Creaney, 40, who has been described as "frail and vulnerable" by police, was found in a wheelie bin at a property in the Craigavon area on Saturday (5 July). Following the discovery, detectives arrested a man, aged 27, and a 23-year-old woman in connection with the incident.
