BBC Lists Stephen Nolan Among Top Earners In Annual Report
According to BBC's annual report, Stephen Nolan was paid between £405,000 and £409,999 directly from the licence fee in 2024-25, making him one of the public broadcaster's top earners once again.
The salary Mr Nolan received includes pay for his presenting work both on BBC radio and television.
These figures do not, however, account for his earnings from other TV programmes made for the BBC by Mr Nolan's independent production company. This is because the BBC is not required to disclose salaries of those paid through production companies. The Northern Irishman was listed as the seventh highest paid on-air presenter within 2024-25, behind Gary Lineker, who has since left the corporation, and Zoe Ball, who has stepped away from her role as presenter of BBC Radio 2 breakfast show. Other higher earners include Alan Shearer, Nick Robinson, Fiona Bruce and Greg James.
As the BBC is required to publish those who earn more than £178,000 from the licence fee in a year, the corporation's Northern Ireland director, Adam Smyth, was also named. He was paid between £178,000 and £184,999 in 2024-25.
Meanwhile, Mr Smyth's predecessor, Peter Johnston, was paid between £215,000 and £219,999 in 2024-25.
the BBC received around £100m of income from the licence fee in Northern Ireland, but spent £3m less making content in or for the country.
