Last call for IQA National Quality Awards
The UK’s Institute for Quality Assurance (IQA) is calling on quality professionals and businesses to send in their entries for the 2004 IQA National Quality Awards by September 24.
Winners will receive their awards at the first IQA Awards Dinner in the Shakespeare Underglobe, London, on November 11, to coincide with World Quality Day.
The top honour, worth £1,000 to the winner, is the IQA National Award for the best business improvement or quality project. In 2003, this was won in 2003 by Gary Blenkinsop of Pratt & Whitney Canada (UK), ahead of a strong field which included representatives from UK Immigration Services, BMW, Rolls-Royce Control Systems and Remploy Ltd.
President and chairman of the IQA, Mr Jim Speirs says: “Quality is a way of working, which not only improves businesses but also the way people work and live. The IQA National Quality Award aims to raise business awareness of its importance and encourage, promote and recognize best practice.”
The IQA National Award applications are reviewed by the Centres of Excellence forum and administered by IQA headquarters. Five authors are invited to make their final presentations to an audience and judges from the Centre of Excellence forum. The winner will be announced at the awards dinner.
The IQA John Loxham Seminar and Awards Dinner 2004 are sponsored by NQA, BSI, Vodaphone, Unilever, LRQA, Smallpiece and ASCB.
Guest speaker at the John Loxham Seminar is Mike Lowe, director of standards at the British Standards Institute (BSI).
