Ministers Express Horror And Heartbreak Over Fermanagh Shooting Tragedy
Health Minister Mike Nesbitt and Justice Minister Naomi Long have released a joint statement expressing their shock and sadness following the fatal shooting incident in Maguiresbridge, County Fermanagh.
In their statement, the Ministers conveyed their "deepest sympathies to the families affected and to the wider community in County Fermanagh." They acknowledged the widespread impact of the tragic event, urging those in need of support to utilise services available within the Health and Social Care system, as well as those offered by the voluntary and community sector.
Both Ministers commended the swift and dedicated response of first responders and emergency services, including the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS), the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), staff from Western and Belfast Health and Social Care Trusts, the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS), and Air Ambulance NI.
"Those who work in the frontline of our emergency and health services are the best of us and we value their tremendous dedication and compassion at this most awful of times for families and the community," the Ministers stated.
They concluded their statement by appealing for privacy for the families and friends of the deceased and cautioned against online speculation as the PSNI continues its murder investigation into the incident.

The party's mental health spokesperson, MLA Órlaithí Flynn, made the call after the release of the Registrar General's 2023 Annual Report which has highlighted an increase in deaths by suicide in 2023.
