Hargey Condemns Alleged Racist Assault On Migrant

Sinn Féin MLA Deidre Hargey has said there is "no place for racism or hate in society" after the PSNI confirmed they are investigating an alleged assault on a migrant linked to vigilante groups in South Belfast. The South Belfast MLA said that racism, violence, and intimidation are "unacceptable, wrong and it must stop immediately."

Hargey stated that these so-called vigilante groups "do not represent our society" and that political leaders have a responsibility to stand with the victims of this intimidation and violence. She has written to the Justice Minister offering to work alongside her and the police to ensure those responsible are held to account. Hargey also called on anyone with information to contact the police.
