Public Consultation Launched For Carryduff Regeneration

Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council has launched a public consultation on a new Public Realm Project for Carryduff. The consultation, which took place on Thursday, 14 August, was welcomed by Alliance Councillor Jamie Harpur, Vice Chair of the Regeneration and Growth Committee.

The project proposals include pavement works, pedestrian crossings, and improved access to Carryduff Park. Mr Harpur encouraged residents to have their say on the proposals, stating that the project will give a "significant boost to the local community."

Councillor Warns 5G Mast Destruction 'Could Cost Lives'

Sinn Féin councillor Ronan McLaughlin has warned that the ongoing destruction of 5G masts could cost lives, following another attack on a mast on the Glen Road on Thursday evening. He said the "ongoing campaign by a small minority to destroy vital infrastructure" has a detrimental impact on communities, with poor connectivity now common in west Belfast. Councillor McLaughlin called for those responsible to be "taken off our streets," warning there is a "real risk lives could be lost because of weak phone signal."

Man Charged With Offensive Weapon and Threats to Kill

A 20-year-old man has been charged to court following a report that a man was seen with a sword in the High Street area of Bangor on Thursday, 14 August. The man has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and threats to kill. He is due to appear before Newtownards Magistrates’ Court today, Friday, 15 August. All charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

Nursing And Midwifery Students To Benefit From Bursary Increase
Means-tested elements of bursary support for nursing and midwifery students are to be increased by 15% for the 2022/23 academic year, Health Minister Robin Swann has announced. The increase will be applied to the dependants allowance for spouse or first child; the allowance for subsequent children; and parents learning allowance.

One of Nl's leading banks is putting its 'money where its mouth is' by investing £2m in a refurbishment of the Northern Bank's Shipquay Place branch in Londonderry. The renovations of the landmark, listed building will include full repairs to the external stonework and the creation of a new ramped access.

Finance Minister Committed To Delivering Public Sector Pay Award
New Finance Minister, Dr Caoimhe Archibald, has committed to delivering a public sector pay award that will reflect "the vital role they play in delivering public services". The Minister has held her first official meeting with civil service trade unions – NIPSA, FDA, Unite and GMB – to discuss the issues affecting public services.

UK Govt Urged To 'Do More' To Support Public Sector Workers
Sinn Féin has called on the UK government to "do more" to fully support public sector workers and services.
