First Climate Action Plan Consultation Event Underway
The first of 10 public consultation events on Northern Ireland's first draft Climate Action Plan has begun, with a session held today at Belfast City Hall.
The draft plan, which was launched in June, outlines a roadmap for 2023-27 on how the region will reduce carbon emissions, grow its green economy, protect the environment, and improve public health and wellbeing.
DAERA Minister Andrew Muir said the plan is a "significant milestone for Northern Ireland" and a "roadmap towards a more sustainable future." He added that the public consultation is crucial because "everyone in society will have a key role to play in delivering it."
The 16-week consultation is due to end on 8 October 2025. Public events will also be held in Cookstown, Craigavon, Enniskillen, Ballymena, Newry, Ballynahinch, Omagh, L'Derry, and Coleraine. An additional online consultation event is planned for 2 October 2025.
