Shankill Shared Women's Centre Shortlisted For Award
The Shankill Shared Women's Centre in Belfast, delivered by P&K McKaigue Ltd, has been shortlisted for the European Commission's REGIOSTARS Public Choice Award. Completed in 2024, this €8.4 million project provides a purpose-built, cross-community shared space on a former interface site between the Shankill and Falls Roads.
The centre demonstrates the lasting impact of strategic PEACE programme investments, which support regional development projects in areas such as skills, education, transport, and socio-economic regeneration. The current PEACEPLUS programme (2021–2027) continues this work, with a €1.1 billion budget for initiatives across Northern Ireland.
The project team included Todd Architects, responsible for the design; IN2 Engineering for mechanical services; Design ID for structural and civil engineering; Park Hood for landscaping; and Sperrin Facades for the building envelope.
Voting for the REGIOSTARS Public Choice Award is open until October 15. You can register your vote for the Shankill Shared Women’s Centre here.
