Two Men Charged Over Series Of Deliberate Fires

Detectives investigating a series of arsons across Belfast, Moira and Lisburn in January and February 2025 have charged two men to court.

The men, aged 39 and 41, have been charged with offences including arson and conspiracy to commit arson. They were arrested following a police operation in west Belfast yesterday, Tuesday, 16 September.

They are due to appear before Belfast Magistrate's Court on Monday, 13 October.

As is usual procedure, the charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

Officer injured in hammer assault
A police officer has been injured after being struck with a hammer in Co Armagh at the weekend. The incident occurred after officers were called to the Thomas Street area of Portadown on Sunday after a Portuguese man reported damage to his car. When officers arrived they saw a man being assaulted in a separate incident nearby.

Lawyer considers client's 'overexposure'
The lawyer of a senior north Belfast loyalist has warned that he may report the Chief Constable, Sir Hugh Orde, and an unnamed Sunday newspaper editor to the Attorney General for over exposure of his client. Ihab Shoukri, from Alliance Road, was today remanded on continuing bail charged two counts of being a member of the UDA/UFF.

Woman Remanded Over Greenisland Murder
A woman has been remanded in custody charged with the murder of Eddie Girvan in Co Antrim. The accused, Margaret Henderson, appeared at Belfast Crown Court on Friday,. Mr Girvan, 67, was found dead at his home on Station Road in Greenisland on Monday night. He was found with his hands tied and a stab wound to his chest.

Three Men Charged In Connection With Series Of Aggravated Burglaries
Three men have been charged with a number of offences in connection with a series of aggravated burglaries between 20 and 23 February. The men, aged 27, 30 and 35, are facing charges of aggravated burglary, stealing, false imprisonment, burglary, going equipped for burglary and handling stolen goods.
