Consultation Launched On Future Of Postgraduate Student Loans
Economy Minister Dr Caoimhe Archibald has launched a consultation on the future level of Postgraduate Tuition Fee Loans for students.
The consultation, which invites feedback on four proposed options, includes the Minister's preferred option of increasing the maximum loan amount from the current £6,500 to £10,000. Minister Archibald stated that higher education plays a vital role in equipping the workforce with the skills needed to drive innovation and support the economy. She added that it is essential for financial support to be "fair and equitable."
This review is part of the Department for the Economy’s commitment to reassess the scheme every three years. The Minister urged everyone with an interest in postgraduate education to take part in the consultation, which will remain open until 5pm on Friday, 7 November.

Education Minister Peter Weir has called on "everyone to play their part" in helping to keep schools safe spaces for pupils and staff as they reopen following the extended half-term break. Making the call, Mr Weir said: "The transmission of COVID-19 within schools remains low and by taking some simple steps we can all make sure that continues.
