Tourism Ireland Targets UK And French Markets

Tourism Ireland is ramping up its promotional activities across key European markets, executing campaigns in Manchester and Paris this week to secure visitor growth and boost revenue.

The twin drive involved a total of 26 tourism operators from Ireland promoting everything from high-end luxury experiences to new sustainable and culinary offerings, with the goal of expanding visitor numbers in both the crucial Great Britain market and the valuable French market.

Targeting Luxury in Manchester

Tourism Ireland recently targeted luxury holidaymakers for Ireland at a dedicated event in Manchester, Britain's second largest city. Fourteen tourism businesses from Ireland attended the workshop, with the aim of growing the number of high-end visitors to the island.

The event gave the participating businesses the opportunity to meet, and forge new business links with, specialist luxury travel agents and tour operators. The focus was on promoting a wide range of luxury experiences, including high-end hotels, castle stays, Michelin-starred dining and exclusive activities.

Julie Wakley, Tourism Ireland's Head of Great Britain, said: "As Great Britain is our largest market, this type of sales event is an important element of our strategy to grow the number of high-end visitors to the island of Ireland. It's also an important platform for our partners to network and engage with key luxury travel agents and tour operators, to encourage them to feature Ireland in their future programmes."

Media Outreach in Paris

Tourism Ireland also showcased the best of Ireland to leading French media at a recent event in Paris. The bespoke showcase gave 12 tourism operators from Ireland the opportunity to meet with top French journalists, broadcasters and digital influencers.

The event informed the French media about new and exciting reasons to visit the island of Ireland, with a strong focus on sustainability, 'Slow Adventure', culinary experiences and new attractions.

Monica MacLaverty, Tourism Ireland's Manager for Southern Europe, said: "France is a key market for tourism to the island of Ireland, and we are working hard to grow visitor numbers from France. This event provided a valuable platform for our tourism partners to highlight what is new and exciting on the island of Ireland to influential French journalists and to encourage them to feature Ireland prominently in their publications and channels."
