PSNI Renew Appeal On 12th Anniversary Of Peter Quigley's Disappearance

Detectives are issuing a renewed appeal for information relating to the disappearance of Peter Quigley, who has been a long-term missing person since Thursday, 26 September 2013.

Marking the 12th anniversary since Mr Quigley was last seen, police said that there have been no confirmed sightings of him since.

Mr Quigley was last sighted at approximately 11am at Moira Train Station where he was dropped off by prison staff following his release from Maghaberry Prison that same morning.

Peter Quigley, who would now be 43 years old, was known to have spent time in and out of prison since 2009 for theft and similar offences. His last known address was in the Newry area, though he was also known to frequent Belfast City Centre.

Detective Inspector Eakin detailed Mr Quigley's description: "Peter was last seen wearing a dark-coloured hoody, blue sweatshirt and grey three quarter length trousers with dark-coloured shoes and socks. Although Peter had some money on his person at the time of his disappearance, he is not believed to have had a mobile phone or access to any vehicles."

Mr Quigley is described as being 5 feet 8 inches tall, of medium build, with short dirty fair coloured hair, and blue eyes. He has a distinctive large burn scar on his right knee. He speaks with a strong London accent, where he was born and lived for several years in the Heathrow area.

Detective Inspector Eakin added that the family is desperate for news, describing Peter as a quiet and not outwardly sociable man who was known to struggle with his mental health.

"Twelve years have now passed since Peter's disappearance and we are appealing to anyone who believes they may have seen him since this time, may have met him whilst he was in Maghaberry Prison, or know of his current whereabouts, to contact us on 101 quoting reference number 797 07/11/13. Regardless of how small, or insignificant you think the information you have is, it could potentially help our investigation greatly."
