Man Dies Following Road Traffic Collision On Ballygowan Road

The PSNI has confirmed that a man has died following a fatal road traffic collision in east Belfast on Saturday, 27 September 2025.

Inspector Cherith Adair of the PSNI’s Collision Investigation Unit stated: "Just after 11pm, we received a report of a pedestrian having been struck by a vehicle in the Ballygowan Road area."

Police officers attended the scene alongside emergency service partners, but the man was sadly pronounced deceased.

Inspector Adair confirmed that enquiries are continuing and appealed for public assistance: "We appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have dashcam footage which could assist our investigation, to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference number 1605 of 27/09/25."

The Ballygowan Road, which was closed overnight while police carried out their investigation, has since reopened to traffic.

A man who died in a road collision in Co Antrim has been named as Kamil Gervenka. The crash occurred on the Portglenone Road in Randalstown at around 12.15am on Sunday, 23 October. It is believed he was originally from Slovakia and worked in the area. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
