Renewed Appeal And Reward Offered On Sean Fox Murder Anniversary
Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Major Investigation Team are making a renewed appeal for information into the murder of 42-year-old Sean Fox, three years on from the incident.
The appeal, coinciding with the third anniversary of the crime, is backed by a reward of up to £20,000 from the independent charity Crimestoppers.
Mr Fox, a father of two and a regular visitor to the club, was shot dead on the afternoon of Sunday, 2 October 2022, when two masked gunmen entered the Donegal Celtic Sports and Social Club on the Suffolk Road in west Belfast.
Detective Chief Inspector Kerrie Foreman said Mr Fox was "singled out as he sat enjoying a drink in a busy function room" at around 2.25pm. He was shot multiple times by both gunmen, who were inside the premises for approximately 21 seconds.
Gunmen's Movements and Descriptions Police believe the gunmen travelled to and from the club on bicycles between 2.20pm and 2.30pm that afternoon, passing through the areas of Glen Road, Dungloe Crescent, Glenveigh, Gweedore Gardens, and Carigart Avenue.
The police have issued detailed descriptions of the gunmen and their bicycles:
• Gunman One: Riding a light grey or silver mountain bike with a plastic bag over the seat. He was wearing a light grey hoodie with distinctive lines down the arms, dark bottoms, and a cap under his hoodie, and was carrying a dark black holdall.
• Gunman Two: Riding a racer bike with a distinctive rear point to the saddle, a white handlebar, white handlebar stem, pink handlebar tape, and white tyres. He was wearing a blue hoodie, dark bottoms, and light grey gloves.
Detective Chief Inspector Foreman urged anyone who knows who the gunmen are to come forward, stating that information can be passed with 100% anonymity to Crimestoppers, where calls are never recorded and cannot be traced.
