Call For Volunteers For 2026 Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann
The search has begun for volunteers to help deliver the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, which will make history by coming to Belfast for the first time in 2026.
The world's biggest celebration of Irish music and culture will take place from Sunday, 2 August, to Sunday, 9 August 2026.
Volunteer Now, Northern Ireland's leading volunteering organisation, has opened recruitment for roles that are critical to the smooth running of the event, which is being organised by Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann (CCÉ) in partnership with Belfast City Council and Ards CCÉ.
The event will feature an eight-day programme of concerts, competitions, street performances, and exhibitions. A range of roles will be available, including street ambassadors, team leaders, and customer services.
Lord Mayor of Belfast, Councillor Tracy Kelly, said that with over 700,000 people expected to attend, volunteers will be "instrumental" in helping the city capitalise on the massive economic benefit, particularly from a tourism perspective. She invited everyone to "play their part by showcasing our famous hospitality."
Denise Hayward, CEO of Volunteer Now, called volunteers the "secret ingredient to success", ensuring events like the Fleadh are smooth, safe, and enjoyable. Successful applicants will receive extensive bespoke training from Volunteer Now, starting in early 2026.
Ards CCÉ's Niall McClean added that being the host branch for the event is a particularly special moment, as the branch will also be celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2026.
Those interested in being at the heart of the event are advised to apply early before the end of the year, as demand for the roles is anticipated to be high.
