Health Minister Honours Award-Winning Autism Service
Health Minister Mike Nesbitt has praised the work of the Western Health & Social Care Trust's Children & Young People's Early Intervention Service (EIS).
The Minister visited clinicians at the facility in Fermanagh on Tuesday, 14 October, marking World AHP (Allied Health Professionals) Day. The EIS, established in 2021, is a small team of clinicians, including speech and language therapists and occupational therapists, who work with psychology professionals to provide support, intervention, and assessment for children and young people once characteristics of Autism have been identified.
Minister Nesbitt praised the team's "innovative model" which aims to reduce healthcare inequalities by bridging the gap from referral to assessment. He offered his thanks to all AHPs across Northern Ireland, calling their expertise and dedication "truly valued."
