'Ending The Harm' Campaign Targets Paramilitaries And Criminal Gangs
A new poster campaign designed to highlight the need to tackle exploitation by both paramilitary groups and criminal gangs in local communities has been launched by Justice Minister, Naomi Long.
The initiative is part of the Executive Programme on Paramilitarism and Organised Crime's (EPPOC) ongoing 'Ending the Harm' campaign. The posters, which began appearing on Monday, 20 October 2025 across outdoor advertising sites, online, and on social media, feature a new two-part message: 'We must end – We can end'. This references the positive impact and change achieved through EPPOC projects and interventions across Northern Ireland.
For the first time, the campaign directly names both 'Criminal Gangs' and 'Paramilitaries', acknowledging the diverse perspectives on how these organisations are described.
Justice Minister Naomi Long stated: "Paramilitary groups and criminal gangs exploit, intimidate and harm our communities. They are not defenders or protectors, they are criminals."
"The new posters make it clear that, whatever name they use, their actions are unacceptable and must end," Minister Long said.
She concluded that the work delivered by EPPOC has shown that "we can end this harm and together, we can build safer, stronger communities for everyone."
