Viable Pipe Bomb Found In Car After Police Pursuit

A police security alert in Keady has concluded after a device found in the back of a car was confirmed by Ammunition Technical Officers (ATO) to be a viable pipe bomb.

The discovery was made after police located and pursued a vehicle in the early hours of Wednesday, 22 October 2025. Detective Inspector Danielle Moffett confirmed that around 1.15am, a white Toyota Landcruiser was noted in the Lough Road, Lurgan area and flagged for having no insurance. When officers signalled the vehicle to stop, it made off, leading to an authorised pursuit.

The car, which travelled "a considerable distance at speed," was eventually stopped with the deployment of a stinger device in Keady. A search of the vehicle revealed the explosive device, which has now been made safe. Two men, aged 22 and 37, who were the occupants of the car, were arrested and remain in police custody assisting with ongoing enquiries. All roads in the Keady area have now been reopened. Detectives are appealing to anyone with information regarding the incident to contact them on 101, quoting reference number 67 of 22/10/25.

Armed Robber Dresses As Police Officer
Police are searching for two men in connection with the attempted armed robbery of a shop in Co Armagh. Police said that one of the men who attempted to rob the shop on West Street, Portadown, was dressed as a policeman.
