Education Minister Visits Israel To Study Gifted Education

Education Minister Paul Givan has visited the Ofek School in the Jerusalem District of Israel to learn more about the country's innovative approaches to gifted education and inclusive learning.

Minister Givan was welcomed by Principal Racheli Yitzhak and representatives from the Israeli Ministry of Education. The Ofek School caters to over 1,500 gifted and outstanding pupils from across Jerusalem who attend weekly for small, ability-based classes designed to further their academic achievements.

Following his visit, Paul Givan said the school adopts many "innovative educational practices, supporting diverse learners within a high-achieving environment."

“What stood out to me most was the passion and confidence of the young people that I met and their enthusiasm for learning was infectious,” the Minister commented. "It’s inspiring to see how Ofek School and the Israeli Ministry of Education are investing in the potential of gifted learners while maintaining an inclusive approach that ensures every student feels valued and supported."

Mr Givan noted that the visit offered valuable insights into how innovative teaching, flexibility, and high expectations can transform the classroom experience.

During his trip, the Minister also met with senior officials from Israel’s Ministry of Education, including Nina Zeltzman, Senior Deputy Director General, and Dr Dalit Atrashchi, Director of the Division for International Relations. Discussions focused on Israel’s strategic approach to pedagogy and how the country is advancing pedagogical standards across all educational levels.
