Man Arrested In Strabane On Drug And Scrambler Offences

A 19-year-old man has been released on bail following his arrest in Strabane on Tuesday, 28 October 2025, after Neighbourhood Policing Team officers intercepted him on suspicion of drug and driving offences.

The incident began when patrolling officers were alerted to a person riding a scrambler in an anti-social manner in the Bradley Way area. Chief Inspector Pearce confirmed that officers were deployed immediately to the scene.

"Officers attended the area immediately and apprehended the man before he could make off from the scene," said Chief Inspector Pearce.

Following a stop and search, police seized a quantity of suspected Class B drugs packaged in deal bags, alongside a small amount of suspected Class A drugs and various items of drug-related paraphernalia. Both the seized items and the scrambler motorcycle were taken for examination.

The man was arrested on suspicion of a number of offences, including possession of a Class A and B drug, possession of a Class B drug with intent to supply, attempted criminal damage, and criminal damage. He has since been released on bail to allow police to conduct further enquiries into the matter.

Chief Inspector Pearce confirmed that tackling drug dealing and misuse remains a policing priority across the Derry and Strabane district. He also reiterated the police's commitment to addressing the dangerous driving of scramblers, noting the significant safety issues, nuisance, and noise these vehicles often create in local communities.

"Our local Neighbourhood Policing Team carries out frequent patrols of the area, fully engaging with local community groups and representatives," he added. The police are urging local residents to continue reporting any concerns by calling 101, or 999 in an emergency, to ensure resources are allocated where they are needed most. Information can also be provided anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
