The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) has confirmed the death of a man, aged in his 60s, who passed away after sustaining serious injuries in the Dungiven area.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, 2 November 2025.

Police received a report at approximately 1.35am that an injured man had been discovered in the Foreglen Road area. Officers attended the scene immediately, alongside colleagues from partner emergency services. The man was subsequently transported to hospital for urgent treatment, but sadly died shortly afterwards.

Detectives are currently investigating the full circumstances surrounding the death. At this time, they believe the man may have been injured in a hit-and-run road traffic collision. Detective Inspector Gillian Connolly from the Criminal Investigation Department issued an appeal for witnesses: "We are continuing to investigate the circumstances, and at this time, we believe that he may have been injured in a hit and run road traffic collision. As part of our enquiries, we would like to hear from witnesses or anyone who may have captured dash-cam or other footage which could assist.
